Copper River country has lakes like jewels |
|
| Clear, beautiful lakes adorn Alaska's Copper River Basin, inviting the canoeist, fisherman, and photographer. These lakes are home to trout, char, grayling, burbot, and other fish species. Moose wade in the shallows, ducks flock on the surface, and beavers pursue their industry along the shores and in connecting streams. During the Ice Age, most of this part of Alaska was submerged under a great lake that occasionally drained with epic floods and refilled, as glaciers blocked passages to the sea. Enduring evidences of this ancient Lake Ahtna are still found throughout Alaska's Copper River Valley. | ||
