Mountains of Alaska's Copper River Country


		Copper River Country is the mountain kingdom of North America
		Sculpted by the unrelenting forces of Earth's interior, the land through which the Copper River winds sets a high standard for scenic splendor. This region is surrounded by four major mountain ranges. Here are found the greatest number of peaks above 16,000 feet in North America, as well as the continent's largest collection of glaciers. The Wrangell-St. Elias Range, defining the east border of the Copper River Basin, contains nine of the twelve highest summits in the United States. Many of these peaks are easily visible from roadside turnouts and trailside vantage points.
